Whether or not we have met yet, my story and how I got here is part of your story. As owner of Chandler Designs, my background and career is in fine art, framing, and restoration of family photographs. Every photograph restored, and piece of art chosen for a home, tells a story. I write about our human nature, my experiences, and episodes in our collective story.
Arts and Advocacy, are part of my everyday life and how I do business. Chandler Designs’ core business of working with family history and personal stories (my clients' and my own) shows why it matters that we keep trying to improve the world socially and environmentally in any way we can.
Part of my story is raising two children with developmental delays, or neurodivergence depending on your point of view on the lingua franca of what is or is not “normal”. Right there is a life lesson for a story teller, writer, artist. The farther we go in our story and learn about humanity, the more we can see that each of us, with our array of experiences and abilities, are part of the fabric of humanity.
While becoming a writer from my experiences, I also became a founding board member of Kitsune, Inc., 501c3 non-profit. We work on creative ideas for independent living for adults with developmental disabilities, but without an intellectual disability—our fellow citizens who fall through the cracks in our social safety net.
